FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (12-10, 1-2 SSC) is back on the road to take on the Florida Tech Panthers (10-12, 1-2 SSC) in a weekday Sunshine State Conference series.
The first game in Melbourne, Fla., will take place Tuesday, March 5 at 3 p.m., and the series will wrap up with a doubleheader on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.
The Sharks are coming off a weekend series against the No. 8 Rollins Tars in which NSU was able to take one from the Tars, beating them in game two, 9-1, in six innings. Rollins beat the Sharks in the first and last games of the series, 6-0 and 2-0, respectively.
The Panthers also had a three-game series last weekend, against No. 7 Tampa, where FIT took one of three from the Spartans, winning the final game of the series 2-1. The Panthers lost the other two games by a combined two runs, 1-0 and 2-1.
When these two teams played last season at the AD Griffin Sports Complex, the Sharks took the first two from the Panthers, 2-0 and 6-5, before dropping the third, 7-3. The Sharks last swept the Panthers in 2010 at home, while the Panthers swept the Sharks the following season in Melbourne.
These two teams have been fairly even throughout the years. The Sharks hold a slight 18-15 series record against the Panthers.
